Blast kills Iraqi soldier in Diyala
A bomb has exploded in the volatile province of Diyala, killing an Iraqi soldier and wounding two others, a provincial police source says
The blast hit an Iraqi Army foot patrol near a village, some 30 km east of the provincial capital city of Baquba, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In separate incident, unknown gunmen stormed a sewage facility in southern Baquba and kidnapped three workers, the source said.
He said that the attackers on the facility believed to be al- Qaeda militants and that the incident is under investigation.
Explosions, rampant throughout war-battered Iraq, are almost a daily part of life in some parts of the country.
Diyala, in central Iraq, is considered one of the most dangerous areas of the country, where al-Qaeda and various insurgent groups still manage to launch attacks against Iraqi troops.
